Sask DLC Grades 7-9 courses are designed to help students move seamlessly into high school, transitioning from mostly paper based resources, moving toward an online environment in order to prepare for Grade 10.

Enjoy the comfort of learning from your own home while still receiving high quality, fully funded K-12 education, in line with Ministry of Education guidelines.

Our middle years courses are intentionally designed with teaching strategies and assessments that connect curricular concepts across multiple subject areas, helping you make meaningful connections and apply your learning in different contexts.

The middle years courses we offer are Math, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. They provide a well-rounded educational experience that will strengthen your understanding while embedding additional subject area outcomes (Health, Phys Ed, Art, Career Education) within these four courses. This integrated approach ensures that all Saskatchewan curricular outcomes for each grade are met in a holistic, cohesive, and streamlined manner.

You will also explore a wide range of Practical and Applied Arts courses, helping you discover new interests and potential pathways for high school and beyond.

Is there a cost?

There is no direct cost to families for students under the age of 22 taking online courses with Sask DLC.

School divisions in Saskatchewan are provided with provincial funding for students living in the area. Students and families have the option to study online and school divisions are invoiced directly. This ensures that provincial funding provided to the school division follows the student, wherever they choose to learn.

Working with Sask DLC allows our family to invest our time in education when it works for us. Some Saturdays are spent working on science projects and some Monday mornings are spent working with
4-H animals.

Learning Mentors

As a parent, you play a vital role as a learning mentor at home.

While each course is led by a teacher who provides regular online instruction and support, your guidance and encouragement are essential to your child's success.

You can support their learning by accessing their progress and grades at any time through our online portal, helping with goal setting an time management.

Regular communication with teachers through Teams calls, email and parent-teacher-student conferences ensures you stay informed and engaged. Your hands-on support with schoolwork and projects makes a meaningful difference in their education.

What is the time commitment?

Online learning offers structured flexibility, allowing you to follow teacher-created timelines and submit assignments on schedule.

While you'll typically spend four to six hours per course, the time required can vary based on your maturity, focus, independence, and goals. You also have the option to work ahead and complete courses early.

With a traditional 180-day school calendar from September to June, you can choose how many hours to dedicate each day, as long as you maintain steady progress.

How To Get Started as a Sask DLC Student

Gather documents

During the online registration process, you will need to provide a birth certificate and three documents showing proof of Saskatchewan residency such as a Saskatchewan health card, driver's license or other documents with your name and address (e.g. utility bill).

Register

If you are registering more than one child, each child will need to be registered separately.

Registration confirmation

Registration typically takes between two to five days to process, depending on the time of year.

Once completed, you and your learning mentor will receive an email confirmation along with login details for DLCgo, our course platform.

Teacher contact

Your teacher will contact you to introduce themselves, get to know you, review your coursework and answer any questions you have.

You can also schedule a meeting with your teacher through your DLCgo dashboard.

Your Choice In Learning

We understand that every student learns differently, which is why we offer two learning models for families to choose from:

• Synchronous Live Class: Your child will attend scheduled live class sessions with their teacher throughout the day.

• Asynchronous (flexible learning): You and your child can choose the daily learning schedule that works for you, while following a structured course timeline.

Our teachers provide one-on-one support, live instruction, and an individualized learning experience. Whether choosing Live Synchronous Classes or Asynchronous learning, students will benefit from a safe, structured and flexible online education in a supportive environment.

What are the benefits of this model?

  • Great for students who thrive on structure, want to interact daily/frequently with their teacher and peers.

  • Great for students who prefer to set their own learning schedule during the day or follow the teacher directed pace and timeline.

What is the role of the teacher and student?

  • The teacher leads the students’ education online.  

  • Students will be online live with the teacher and class for three periods a day. 

  • Lessons are provided through scheduled live sessions and directed by the teacher.   

  • The teacher leads the learning and provides the resources needed, lessons, assessment, assignments and feedback. 

  • The students follow the online course content and/or the print package.  

  • Teachers will offer weekly live meetings to support learning.  

  • Students are expected to communicate with their teacher and submit their work (evidence of learning) regularly.  

  • Lessons are provided in an online course or through print resources.   

  • Teachers provide the assessments and feedback. 

What is the role of the learning mentor/ parent? 

  • The learning mentor monitors students throughout the day to ensure they are joining their daily class online meetings and are completing their work on time.  

  • They also provide additional help.  

  • The learning mentor determines the daily learning schedule, monitors progress, and ensures the work is completed and submitted on time.

Outside of scheduled live meetings, when can students access their teachers? 

  • Teachers may be booked to meet with students and/or learning mentors within their available schedule.
