This program involves students completing four 100-hour online courses A1, A2, B1, and B2 and acquiring 200 hours of steam time. Students 21 years of age or younger, courses are free. For students who are 22 years of age or older, each course will cost $500. Textbooks are not required to complete this course.

While completing A1 and A2 (Part A), students will be required to attend three weekend (Saturday and Sunday) face-to-face steam sessions offered at different high schools across the province - more details below. Students will earn 40 hours of steam time attending these sessions that work towards the overall 200-hours of required steam time for the 4^th Class Certification. This is the same process for when students are completing B1 and B2 (Part B), three more weekend (Saturday and Sunday) face-to-face steam sessions where students will get another 40 hours of steam time.

After completing A1 and A2, students will need to book a time to write the Provincial Part A exam at the Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan (TSASK). Students will need to book another TSASK exam to write the Provincial B exam after they complete B1 and B2. TSASK is the provincial authority that certifies power engineers and exams are $110 each.

Our program finished with 120-hour steam time session that is offered during the first three weeks in July. This 120-hour steam session will be offered out of either Saskatoon, Yorkton, or Meadow Lake, and students are responsible for their own costs (e.g. accommodation, travel, meals). Students that are in B2 will be able to apply for a six-month paid Internship with SaskPower (limited number of students accepted). During this internship students will get their required steam time hours, so will not have to attend the July 120-hour steam time session. SaskPower also has scholarships available to students who complete our program and are continuing to further their education in the Power Engineering field. Hands-on Steam Time Sessions

Students must attend three weekend (Saturday and Sunday) steam time sessions over the course of completing A1 and A2 and three more over the course of completing B1 and B2. These sessions are offered at different high schools across the province and students are placed at their closest location. There are no extra fees changed for steam sessions. Travel may be required, and travel costs must be covered by the student. Students will acquire 40 hours of steam time when they complete the A1 and A2 sessions and 40 more hours when they complete the B1 and B2 sessions. Overall, for the program, students will attend six weekend sessions in total and acquire 80 hours of steam time when all six sessions are complete.

120-Hour Summer Steam Time Session

Our program ends with students completing the last 120-hours of steam time at a post-secondary school. This session will be in either Saskatoon, Yorkton, or Meadow Lake. This session is only offered in July and runs for three straight weeks (Monday to Friday 8 a.m - 5 p.m.)
