This course will expand students knowledge and skills in food preparation, nutrition and food systems. Students will develop consumer awareness and personal skills with the goal of cooking healthy and nutritious meals.

What Will I Learn?

Students will learn about safe food handing, food inspection and certification, Canadian food culture, food systems in Saskatchewan, soups, pastries, animal-based proteins, plant-based-proteins, candy and chocolate, and appetizers and hors d'oeuvres.

Students will have several cooking labs to explore quick and healthy meals, food preservation, and the basics of making homemade soups.

Students will complete their Food Safe Level 1 course and have the opportunity to research and explore career options in the food industry.
