What Will I Learn?

How does Driver Education work for full-time Sask DLC students?

Sask DLC Driver Education is a 30-hour, live online non-credit class that is offered to full-time Sask DLC students free of charge. Following successful completion of the course, students obtain their Learner Driver Permit by completing six hours of in-car practice driving with an instructor in their area.

Sask DLC offers one session in the fall and one session in the spring (usually November and March/April).

If you have already turned 16, you also have the option to pay for private lessons directly with a driving school, which includes six hours of in-class instruction and six hours of practice driving.

In order to get their full Class 5 license, students need to have their learners license for at least nine months. Students at least 15 years old, registered as full-time with Sask DLC, and ready for their learners license can request a first time drivers form from Sask DLC which will allow them to go into any SGI Issuer to challenge the exam and get their learners license early to start this nine month ticker.

If a student chooses this route, any fees will come at the student’s expense and students must still take the Driver Education program to be able to get their full Class 5 license. To request this form, email [email protected].
