This course is designed to engage students in advanced baseball concepts. You will will explore topics such as the culture and philosophy of baseball, how to analyze advanced skills and explore methods of dealing with self-care. You will learn about the use of analytics, sportsmanship, developing community partnerships and secondary careers in baseball.
Through this course you will examine elite level skills and techniques in fielding, hitting and pitching as well as drills to assist in attaining high-level performance. You will also investigate the advanced coaching strategies surrounding offence, defense, pitching, hitting and game decisions.
You will examine how the rules and analytics of baseball have evolved over time, as well as the impact baseball has on various cultures.
You will explore the non-playing careers within the game including coaching, umpiring, recruiting and broadcasting.
You will also advance your knowledge of self-care, sportsmanship, team building and leadership.
While taking this course, it is a benefit to have access to a baseball coach or other knowledgeable mentor that can provide feedback, but this is not required.
